Our President, Bryan Adams, gave his ever popular demonstration on re-potting orchids this month. One important point in the re-potting process is the elimination of the risk of transferring viruses from one plant to another and to prevent this happening Bryan uses a new pair of latex gloves for handling each plant. How many of us do that ?
Each stage of the re-potting process was covered, from trimming roots, dividing the plant if necessary, the composition of composts and the choice of pots. Bryan favours the use of clear airdome pots as one can see the plants roots but covers the pot with a solid black pot to prevent algae growth in the compost.
Bryan was joined by Christine and David Murray who repotted one of their Cymbidiums under Bryan’s guidance.
The table show winner was Jean Gregory with her Vanda hybrid.
